Ponto Mozambique restaurant in Johanesburg

When a gem is found, its beauty should be shared. This is the case with Ponto Mozambique. We sampled their menu only 2 days after Ponto Mozambique openned and their food was spectacular. Honestly, the best prawns that I have had in Joburg. The flavours were strong, pure and balanced.

The atmosphere was made by the huge lapa they have outside with a firepit in the middle. There are a few benches planted in beach sand and some wannabe beach decor which actually works nicely.

The menu is quite small but this is immaterial because the food is so good. Who wants a wide selection of junk when you can get a small array of delicacies?

The staff were very friendly but somewhat unsure of themselves. It was only their third day, so I would not hold that against them.

Prices were a little high. A meal for 2 including wine and deserts came to R420 excl tip.

Would I go back to Ponto Mozambique? Definitely.

I did not get a business card, but if my memory serves then Ponto Mozambique is near the corner of Keith avenue and 1st Avenue in Pine Park (Blairgowrie), a block or so up from the Woolworths on 1st Avenue, Linden.
