What is Fibre Optic Training?Fibre optics is poised to become the next major game changer in the telecommunications industry in South Africa. This is a good time to get training in the skills of installation and maintenance of fibre optic technology. There is no need to look to international training companies for this – you can get access to high-quality training in optical networking right here in Johannesburg. The fibre optic training offered in Johannesburg is best-in-class, with a focus on quality and professionalism. The training will not only train you in the technical side of fibre optic installation and maintenance, but will also help you learn skills that will be beneficial in running your own fibre optic installation business. The instructor-led courses are intense, in-depth and hands-on. Not just theory based – you will get the opportunity for practical experience throughout the courses. The courses run anywhere from one to five days (with the exception of the apprenticeship). This way, you can start applying your new skills as quickly possible. There are various fibre optic courses available, suitable for anyone from a beginner to a highly experienced technician. Certified Optical Fibre Installer Training (COFI) for South AfricaThis fibre optic training course is designed for installation and maintenance staff working on a range of fibre optic networks including enterprise and outside plant networks for datacoms and telecoms applications. It provides a broad knowledge of the components and equipment used and highlights good working practices in order to inspire a professional approach to the job role. Duration: 5 days FTTx Training for Installers and TechniciansThis fibre optic training course has been developed with classroom lectures and hands-on skills labs to provide practical understanding and skills required to install, test, and troubleshoot PON and active Ethernet FTTx systems according to ITU, IEEE, and SCTE standards. Students will perform bidirectional testing, WDM testing, and splitter testing with the latest FTTx test equipment such as PON power meters and optical time-domain reflectometers. Duration: 4 days Fibre Optic Test & Measurement WorkshopThis workshop provides the basic information and practical experience required to carry out routine fibre optic testing and measuring. This includes testing of point-to-point fibre optic cabling systems and FTTH systems using splitters in typical PON configurations. Introduction to FTTx CourseAttendees will gain a broad base of knowledge and familiarity with FTTx architecture, network design, deployment technology, and some operational skills in this this introductory course. It features 14 hours of classroom lectures with an experienced FTTx facilitator. An attendance certificate will be issued to attendees upon completion of the course. Certified Optical Network Associate (CONA)This 5 day course is an in-depth an introduction to optical networking and the types of systems that are in widespread commercial deployment. It teaches you how to design, plan and implement cost-effective optical networks. It focuses on networks that use either single channel per fibre, or multiple channels using CWDM and DWDM technology, providing typically up to 10 or 25Gb/s per channel and up to 80 channels per fibre. You will learn what is required for satisfactory system performance of such networks and how the performance can be affected by the properties and the quality of the physical fibre infrastructure including such issues as attenuation, chromatic dispersion and polarisation mode dispersion (PMD).
